Happy 48th Birthday Doctor Who!
William Hartnell first graced our screens at 5.16pm on 23 November 1963 when BBC premièred An Unearthly Child
This was what William Hartnell was meant to say but he missed these lines out due to this being a rare third take because of technical hitches and fluffs because he was so emotional. Though these are beautiful lines, we think that the speech as he delivers it is perfect the way it is.
DOCTOR: Believe me, my dear, your future lies with David. And not with a silly old buffer like me. One day, I shall come back. Yes, I shall come back. Until then, there must be no regrets, no tears, no anxieties, just go forward in all your beliefs and prove to me that I am not mistaken in mine, goodbye Susan, goodbye my dear.
