30 days of who → favourite male companion / a character you want to know more about
I just needed to reblog this again.
Because jfc, you don’t understand how important this scene is to me.
Or maybe you do!
Because it has Jack openly showing his affection and admiration for two people of different gender in the exact same way, making no difference at all, and neither do Rose nor the Doctor. Zilch. No hesitating, no flinching, no comic relief.
I wish it could be like this more often.
That scene up there is doing everything right, end of story. And while Jack’s sexuality is often made out to be something to smile at, it’s also shown as very natural and Nine was just cool with that, no reason not to be.
Acceptance: You’re doing it right.

”Now on a personal level, I was so proud of this because, and I didn’t know this. The gentleman who played the other Captain Jack actually said to me afterwards, he said ”you know”, because he was in tears he was crying, and I said are you okay? Have i done something? Did I do a James Marsters? Did I slip you a little tongue? And he went ‘no no’ and he started laughing, and he said ”im actually, im overwhelmed because, i want you to know, what you’re doing as a show, as a character is absolutely wonderful for all of us out here you know watching you, because my brother committed suicide a few years back, because he couldn’t deal with it, and society wouldn’t allow who he was, and he took his own life, and for me to stand here and play a character that represents who my brother was, is an honor for me, but also it means my brothers life wasn’t lived in any sort of vain, or his death wasn’t anything meaningless” and I had no clue, so for me as the actor for that episode, that was one of the most touching moments, but also it made me realize that in every episode from now on, that we’re not only telling stories we’re actually impacting peoples lives with the messages that we can put across. As we do, were making a difference. And that is why the episode ‘Captain Jack Harkness’, is probably one of the most important episodes to me.” - John Barrowman
*cries* The guy’s name is Matt Rippy and I had no idea about this. Also, it’s arguably the best episode of Torchwood, solely because of these two. And the kiss… well, let’s just say I cry every time.
WHAT THE F**K MOFFAT, CALL HIM RIGHT NOW!
We should start a petition- hell, if the Avengers fandom can bring Coulson back to life, we can bring Captain Jack Harkness back to the show!
Casual reminder that Jack spent 1874 years buried beneath Cardiff.
1874 years.
Presuming that it takes him four minutes to be revived each time he dies of things which don’t require his entire body to re-grow itself (based on how long it took for him to revive after Suzie shot him), and that it takes six minutes for him to suffocate (brain death occurs roughly four minutes after loss of consciousness), he dies 52 595 times per year.
That means he died 98 563 030 times while buried underneath Cardiff.
Did you account for the fact that once the usable air is out of the coffin it is out? There will come a point to where the only thing hell be breathing is CO2 the entire time and it will be soon after the first suffocation.
Can we also take this moment to remind ourselves this technically means Jack spent more time repeatedly dying than time the Doctor has spent alive?
