Here we have the brilliant Steven Moffat. Unpopular opinion or not, I love the way he thinks about revealing the answers, about making everything so complicated. Sure, he’s the ultimate troll, he plays with our minds, but isn’t this why we like him so much?
Taken from Doctor Who Confidential for “A Good Man Goes to War” {*}
So I was watching A Good Man Goes To War on BBC iPlayer the other day and from that episode as we know River is Amy & Rory’s daughter and she was taken away from them and was brought up in what is assumed to be the Gamma Forest which is why she is called River Song and not Melody Pond because there isn’t a word for Pond in their language ‘the only water in the Forest is the River’. If we put into consideration what that soldier said (her name escapes me) that in her language (the Gamma Forest), Doctor means Warrior. SO since that it means that River isn’t a proper “Doctor” but Warrior River Song. I’m sure I’m not the only one that clocked that, some nerdy fucks probably clocked it straight away but you know, I’m slow.
That’s an interesting point. It didn’t occur to me because I think of her as Professor River Song, Archaeologist… so “Dr. Song” didn’t even hit my radar since it translates in my head to meaning PhD….. but maybe she was “Doctor River Song” long before she became “Dr. River Song”… from warrior to professor? Certainly worth pondering!
Very interesting, this is of course assuming she got her title of “Doctor” from the Gamma Forests
